The Offscreensaver, 49M
As part of a launch campaign for Eskom’s 49M energy saving campaign, we created a world-first: a screensaver that not only saves screens, it saves electricity too. Once installed, it puts your PC into sleep mode when the traditional screensaver would have activated. Initial tests showed that this will save between 50% and 75% electricity usage. The accumulated energy savings by the thousands of people who installed the screen saver ended up being enough to power a hospital, sports field, town hall or a park. This piece of work is quite close to my heart as I always strive to make work that makes a difference and changes people’s lives.
